Soup Season
When the temps drop and the comfy sweats come out, I’m always in the mood for soup. Right around the end of September I start craving butternut squash soup with brown sugar or a nice big bowl of Broccoli and Cheddar with a side of fresh Italian bread. Yes.

Or tomato bisque with some goat cheese on top, yikes my mouth is now watering!! When December rolls around and snow flakes start to fall I get in the mood for crockpot stews. I enjoy a good hearty beef stew which is such an easy meal for someone who can’t cook what so ever (hello it me) and I just recently learned to brown the roast first in a pan to give it a crisp edge and let me tell you, life changing. Also I feel SO accomplished when I serve a meal this delicious that I made myself.
My challenge when it comes to cooking is trying to get everything done at the same time and I get stressed and overwhelmed and distracted so having a machine that I can just throw things into that tells me 6 hours later that its ready to go is just, A plus in my book.

Do I have any other soup fans? I found this cool guide on howtocook.recipes that shows different soups and stews from around the world. It got me thinking that this could be a cool bucket list challenge for a travel/soup connoisseur.
The Maafe from West Africa sounds like something I would like. Sweet and savory with peanut butter and jalapeno! A combination I would never have thought of going together. I would also probably enjoy Scottland’s ‘Finnan haddie chowder’ as I very much like haddock, bacon and would love to hear them yell, ‘One Finnan Haddie’ in that great Scottish dialect. I would politely decline the Pepperpot soup if I was ever offered it in Jamaica, as I’m not the biggest fan of pig tails being a part of my food.
